Research Consulting
I earned a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2009. I have research experience in qualitative data collection and analysis, program evaluation, rapid assessment, policy research, and urban ethnography. I love to support the work of community organizations seeking to evaluate their programs (for grant funding perhaps?) and of academics looking to develop their research experiences.
I have served as Principal Investigator (PI) on four National Science Foundation (NSF) grants, and I have published research articles in the top journals of my field. Most of my research is multisided and binational, and I collaborate with community organizations to conduct qualitative research in the United States and Mexico. As a consultant, I work with researchers to hone their focus, deepen theoretical connections, cohere project methodology, and disseminate results. From public reports to policy briefs to monographs, I will work with you to conduct robust research that reaches the broadest possible public.
Testimonials
What my colleagues and clients say:
ICIRR has worked with Dr. Ruth Gomberg-Munoz and her students on several research projects. They provided important research to support our advocacy efforts to pass state laws to limit police cooperation with immigration enforcement and to enable undocumented Illinois immigrants to get driving documents and ultimately full Illinois driver's licenses. She and her students demonstrated strong initiative, curiosity, and creativity throughout these projects, providing important information for our work as well as significant learning and leadership opportunities for themselves. We hope to continue to work with Dr. Gomberg-Munoz on future projects.
Ruth coordinated with my legal team to design and carry out a program evaluation of our clinic services. We used the results to show our funding agencies that we needed additional resources. Ruth was easy to work with, helpful, and knowledgeable.
