Grants
I advance the work of community organizations seeking grant funds, as well as academics applying for grants from governmental (e.g. NSF, NIH) and non-governmental (e.g. National Geographic) agencies.
In my work as a cultural anthropologist, I have successfully applied for and served as Principal Investigator on four National Science Foundation (NSF) Grants. I have also won several internal grants as a Loyola University Chicago faculty member and supervised more than $40,000 worth of undergraduate research funding applications. I have served as a panel reviewer for the National Geographic Society, National Science Foundation, and the American Council of Learned Societies. I also regularly peer review for national and International research funding agencies, including the Swiss National Science Foundation, MacArthur Fellows Foundation, Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, and National Endowment for the Humanities. Finally, I work with NGOs to apply for grant funding to support community-based work.
I will work collaboratively with you to 1) identify funding agencies most relevant to your areas of expertise and interest, 2) develop conceptual and methodological frameworks for a fundable project, 3) craft a compelling and effective (not to mention grammatically impeccable) application, and 4) respond thoughtfully to reviews and requests for revision.
